The difference is reactive record-keeping versus proactive breeding intelligence.

BirdTracks runs full Punnett square calculations across 45 or more supported mutations. Whether you are working with autosomal recessive, autosomal dominant, sex-linked, or co-dominant inheritance patterns, the engine models the correct genetic math automatically. You do not need to memorize inheritance tables or work out crosses by hand. Just select your birds, and the predictions appear. Birds Evolution Pro does not include this functionality in any plan tier.

A bird's visual appearance only tells part of the story. Split genetics (heterozygous carriers of recessive traits) determine what that bird can produce when paired correctly. BirdTracks tracks both visual phenotype and split genotype for every bird, then uses that data in offspring predictions. If a bird is split for ino, for example, the genetics engine knows that and factors it into every pairing calculation. Without this capability, breeders using Birds Evolution Pro must track splits manually in notes fields and do the genetic math themselves.

BirdTracks calculates COI automatically across up to five generations and displays a clear warning when a proposed pairing exceeds safe thresholds. This is essential for any breeder maintaining genetic diversity in their flock. Birds Evolution Pro does not include a COI calculator, leaving breeders to assess relatedness manually by tracing pedigrees by eye.

BirdTracks goes beyond genetics prediction with an AI scoring system that evaluates potential pairings across multiple dimensions: genetic compatibility, COI risk, mutation goals, and breeding history. Instead of manually evaluating every possible combination in your flock, you can see which pairings score highest for your specific goals. This is particularly valuable for breeders with large colonies where the number of possible combinations makes manual analysis impractical. Birds Evolution Pro does not offer pairing recommendations of any kind.

When chicks hatch, BirdTracks lets you compare predicted outcomes against actual results. Over time, this feedback loop helps you refine your understanding of each bird's true genotype. If a bird consistently produces offspring that do not match predictions, it may carry additional splits that were not initially recorded.
