Bird breeding software compared, side by side

We make BirdTracks, so read this knowing that. To keep it fair, every fact below comes from the vendor’s own website or app-store page, checked on 3 October 2026, with the source linked. Where a vendor’s site does not say, the table says “Not stated” rather than guessing. Products whose sites we could not confirm as active are left out.

Prices as listed by each vendor on 3 October 2026, before tax; non-US prices vary by region. “Not stated” means the vendor’s site does not mention it — the feature may still exist. Spot an error? Email info@birdtracks.io and we will correct it.

Where BirdTracks is weaker

  • It costs more. Pedigree charts and COI are on the Breeder plan at $24.99/month ($249/year). FarmKeep Premium is $9.99, BirdFlow Pro $4.99, AviLedger $2.99 and Birds Evolution tops out at €3.29 a month.
  • The free tier is small. You get a 30-day trial with every feature, but after it the free plan holds only a handful of birds. Birds Evolution’s free tier covers up to 100 birds.
  • No offline mode and no store app. BirdTracks is a web app you add to the home screen, and it needs a signal to save.
  • One login per account. Multi-user access is not available yet; ZooEasy and FarmKeep sell plans for several people.

Which one fits you

You want the lowest price or a free tier

Birds Evolution (free up to 100 birds), FarmKeep (free for 3 breeding groups) and AviLedger ($2.99/mo) all cost less than BirdTracks.

Your bird room has no signal

Birds Evolution and AviLedger both state offline use. BirdTracks needs a connection to save.

You only use a Windows PC and want to pay once

AviManage is a one-time purchase for Windows.

You keep poultry, goats or other stock too

FarmKeep covers many farm species in one app.

You run a club or a multi-species pedigree register

ZooEasy is built around multi-user pedigree registers, with plans for several admins.

You want web, phone and spreadsheet import with egg-level clutch records and COI

That is the combination BirdTracks is built for — plus cage QR labels and a genetics calculator.

Before you move a flock into any tool, put three questions to the vendor: can I import my current spreadsheet, can I export everything back out, and does the pedigree follow a chick automatically from its clutch? If you are still deciding whether to leave a spreadsheet at all, our breeding spreadsheet guide and record-keeping checklist are tool-neutral. For pedigrees specifically, see bird pedigree software or make one now with the free pedigree chart maker.

Questions

What is the best bird breeding software?
It depends on your setup. On price, Birds Evolution and FarmKeep have free tiers and AviLedger is $2.99 a month. For offline use, Birds Evolution and AviLedger. For a one-time Windows purchase, AviManage. BirdTracks fits breeders who want the same records on phone and computer, spreadsheet import and COI, and are fine paying more for it.
Which bird breeding programs calculate inbreeding (COI)?
On their own websites, as of October 2026: Birds Evolution, AviLedger, ZooEasy and BirdTracks. FarmKeep, BirdFlow and AviManage did not state a COI calculation.
Can I move my records out of a spreadsheet?
AviLedger (.xlsx/.xlsm), ZooEasy (Excel) and BirdTracks (.xlsx/.xls) state spreadsheet import. The others did not say on their sites, so ask the vendor before you commit.
